Held every Saturday, May through November with special markets in April and December (see website for details).  Historic district market with locally and organically grown veggies, fruits, nut, herbs, beef, chicken, eggs, seafood, artisanal breads, scones, pastries, cakes, pies, jams, jellies, salsas, fresh, dried and silk flowers, soaps, lotions, pottery, arts/crafts. S.T.E.M. Studio 

Location: The Children’s Museum of Virginia

Held every Saturday, the STEM Studio is celebrating its 2nd Anniversary this February.  Over 4,000 visitors have enjoyed our hands on activities, demonstrations, and special guests.  The STEM Studio uses STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) activities that are hands-on and appropriate for the entire family to do together.  The STEM Studio is included in the general admission and is open to anyone as long as space is available.  Stop by and discover for yourself what all the fun is about.  10:30 AM – 12:30 PM and 2:30 – 4:30 PM every Saturday at the Children’s Museum of Virginia.  For more information please call 757-393-5258 or visit www.childrensmuseumva.com

    Winter Art Classes: Little Artists Ages 3 – 5

    Location: Portsmouth Art & Cultural Center 

    Is your child ready for an introduction to art?  Tiny artists can let their imaginations run wild in this preschool-friendly arts and crafts class.  This is a great way to evolve motor skills through cutting, gluing, painting, drawing and much more.  Each week new artist / technique will be introduced through guided arts and crafts projects increasing visual literacy for your child.  Bring your creative wee one and leave the mess with us.  Children can be dropped off and picked up at the end of the hour. Registration runs December 1st – January 10th or until space becomes unavailable.     Students create masterpieces through an introduction to art history and artist technique.  Projects reflect lessons ranging from prehistoric cave paintings to Modern art and everything in between.  This is a great opportunity to explore a variety of media including printmaking, sculpting, painting, drawing, mosaics, collage and much more.  Registration runs December 1st – January 10th or until space becomes unavailable.
