The Portsmouth Police Department is proud to present the Citizen’s Police Academy.  This community oriented program is designed to provide private citizens and members of the business community with an insider’s perspective of police work.

Police Department instructors will cover a variety of topics such as Uniform Patrol duties, functions of the Criminal Investigations Unit, Crime Prevention and Community Policing.  Several hands-on classes will also be available to include firearms safety and traffic stop exercises.  Also, there will be classes that involve demonstrations from specialized units to include SWAT, K-9 and the Police Motor Squad.

The Citizens Police Academy will ultimately assist in the reduction of crime through the forging of a partnership between the community and Police Department.  This partnership is the most practical, efficient and powerful tool in the fight against crime.  Please contact Becky Jacobs, at 757-393-8088 for more information and registration forms.
