    Saint Johns Episcopal Church

    424 Washington Street

Daniel Roth, widely acclaimed as one of the leading French organ virtuosos, will travel from Europe to perform at St. John's Church on Wednesday night, 4/11/18, at 7:30pm.

At the age of twenty he made his debut at the organ of the Basilique du Sacré-Coeur in Montmartre-Paris where he would later become their organist. In 1985 he was appointed organist at St. Sulpice, the famous Paris church where his three predecessors were themselves internationally famous musicians (Charles-Marie Widor, Marcel Dupré, and Jean-Jacques Grunenwald). From 1974-76, Daniel Roth was Artist-In-Residence at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and Professor of Organ at the Catholic University in Washington, DC. He also held teaching positions in organ in Marseille, Strasbourg, and Saarbrücken.

A brilliant composer and performer, Daniel has won a number of prestigious prizes and often includes his brilliant improvisations in concert programs. He is Chavalier de la Légion d’Honneur, Officier des Arts et Lettres, and Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Organists (London).

Mr. Roth’s concert schedule in early 2018 will take him from St. Sulpice in Paris to the Abbey Church of St. Nicholas in Prague, the Palais des Arts in Budapest, the Cathedral of St. Mary in Séville, and then to the Exsúltet Organ at St. John’s Church in Portsmouth.

Don’t miss out on this exceptional concert opportunity for the southeastern United States in the 170th year of St. John’s Church. Tickets are $30 each, and may be purchased on the church's website.
